The Institute:

The Centre for Genomic Regulation (CRG) is an innovative centre created in December 2000 and located in the Barcelona Biomedical Research Park (PRBB). The mission of the CRG is to promote excellent basic research in biomedicine, cutting-edge technology development and high quality training of the next generation of scientists. CRG has a highly international culture and the working language is English.

Scientific areas include Gene Regulation, Differentiation and Cancer, Cell and Developmental Biology, Systems Biology, Bioinformatics and Genomics, Genes and Disease.

Research at the CRG/PRBB is supported by state-of-the-art core facilities (www.crg.eu/core_facilities) including genomics, proteomics, bioinformatics, advanced light microscopy, biomolecular screening and protein technologies, FACS and a modern animal house. The Core Facilities constitute the centralized scientific research infrastructure at CRG. Post Description:

The Centre for Genomic Regulation seeks a laboratory technician for the Biomolecular Screening and Protein Technologies Unit of the CRG Core Facilities (http://www.crg.eu).

The Unit provides support for assay development, optimization, validation and execution of medium to high-throughput screening (HTS). Screenings include both genetic (RNAi) and chemical screening.

The Unit is presently equipped with a fully automated and integrated screening laboratory and additional liquid handling systems. Imaging-based assays, high content screening and biochemical assays are performed.

Specific job duties will include routine laboratory organization and maintenance, planning and execution of experiments according to scheduled services as well as collaborating with the investigators in developing new screening assays under the supervision of the Unit head.

 

Candidate requirements:

• Experience: Candidates should have at least three years of laboratory experience preferentially with knowledge of cell culture, cell-based and/or biochemical assays.

Previous experience on handling chemical compounds, working with liquid handling systems, assay development and screening as well as experience with data capture, management and analysis will be an advantage.

• Languages: Fluency in English is necessary.

• Personality: Attention to detail, effective troubleshooting skills, easy communication with scientists from different disciplines and backgrounds, and good judgment are required. The candidate should be highly motivated and interested in learning and developing new techniques.
