Job Summary:
The Air and Radiation Division (ARD), under the management of a Director, is the lead Division responsible for the implementation of the Clean Air Act (CAA) in Region 5 and for the administration of the Agency's responsibilities for controlling air pollution and radiation exposure. The ARD is responsible for managing all technical, enforcement and administrative aspects of the CAA and voluntary climate change and indoor air programs within the Region. This includes permit review, enforcement, overview of state CAA programs, grant administration to state, local and tribal programs, air quality monitoring, and rulemaking activities. The ARD provides program guidance and technical assistance to State and local, and tribal air quality and radiation control agencies and, when appropriate, takes direct Federal action. The Air and Radiation Divisions mission is to implement voluntary and regulatory programs that improve indoor air and outdoor air quality, control radiation, and enforce the Federal Clean Air Act. ARD is concerned with pollution prevention and energy efficiency, indoor and outdoor air quality, industrial air pollution, pollution from vehicles and engines, radon, stratospheric ozone depletion, climate change, and radiation protection.
