VOLUNTEER FIELD ASSISTANTS--Iquitos, Peru at Location: Iquitos, Peru. Duration: September 1-December 15. Job Type: Volunteer. Number of Openings: 2-4. Application Deadline: 1 Aug 2013. Job Description: Two to four volunteers needed to work on postdoctoral research project investigating the behavioral ecology of Yellow-rumped Caciques (Cacicus cela) in the Peruvian Amazon near Iquitos, Peru. Duration: approximately Sept. 1 to Dec. 15 (negotiable). Volunteers will be capturing and banding caciques at 2-3 colonies and collecting behavioral observations of banded birds. Previous mist-netting experience is highly desirable. Successful applicants will be highly motivated and able to work independently or in small groups with limited supervision in remote areas that are hot and humid with ample biting insects. Remedial knowledge of Spanish is also highly recommended but not required. Volunteers will be responsible for their own travel to and from Iquitos, Peru. Expenses incurred in the field will be covered. Work schedules will generally involve two weeks in the field followed by 2-4 days off in Iquitos.
