The Gurdon Institute www.gurdon.cam.ac.uk is a vibrant, world-leading centre for research at the interface between developmental biology and cancer biology, supported by Wellcome and Cancer Research UK. As a research centre, and a Department of the University of Cambridge, the Gurdon Institute has a major responsibility to contribute to society through public engagement. The Institute wants to inspire young people's interest and excitement in science, positively impact the public perception of fundamental research and make public engagement part of its research culture www.gurdon.cam.ac.uk/public-engagement.

We are looking for a Public Engagement Assistant who will assist the Public Engagement Manager and volunteer researchers from the Institute in delivering an exciting programme of public engagement activities.

Candidates should be educated to at least A Level/NVQ level 3 standard or have equivalent practical experience. A degree in a Biology related subject would be an advantage. Enthusiasm for conveying science to a variety of audiences, of all ages and levels of knowledge is vital. Experience of working in an administrative/secretarial role, and knowledge of facts, principles, processes and general concepts related to Project Administration are essential. Excellent organisational and IT skills, including familiarity with databases, spreadsheets, and editorial software are also essential. Some evening and weekend work will be occasionally required. This is a part-time position (50% of full-time, 18.25 hours per week, with flexible hours).

Limited funding: The funds for this post are available until 30th November 2021 in the first instance.
