Postdoc in gene regulation (Germany)

The Institute for Physiological Chemistry (IPC) of the Medical Faculty of the Martin Luther University Halle-Wittenberg is looking for a Postdoctoral Research Associate (TV-L E13).

The position is embedded in the department „Gene Regulation“ of Guido Posern which investigates fundamental aspects of molecular cell biology and tumor biology. We are especially interested in the regulation of gene expression, cell motility and cell adhesion. For this, a central role is played by the actin-regulated transcription factors of the MRTF family (Mol Cell Biol. 2016, 36:1526-1539; Journal of Cell Science 2017, 130:2172-2184; Breast Cancer Research 2017, 19:68).

We offer the opportunity to establish the applicant’s own research group and to obtain the “habilitation”. Teaching duties comprise seminars and practical courses in biochemistry/molecular biology for students of medicine. All teaching is in German. The position is initially for three years; extension for another three years is possible.

Successful candidates will have a PhD in relevant research areas
and first author publications in high-ranking journals.
Candidates are expected to work independently as well as in a team, and to complement the department’s focus and methodology.
Excellent communication skills in German and Englisch are mandatory. Teaching experience for students (of preclinical medicine) is advantageous.

To apply, please include a CV, statement of interest, PhD summary
and certificates until May 31, 2018.
