This post is available for three years to assist with the contribution of Queen¹s University to the European Community STRP project ³Hippocrates² (A Hybrid Approach for Bone and Cartilage Tissue Engineering using Natural Origin Scaffolds, Progenitor Cells and Growth Factors). The candidate will develop techniques for the sustainable production of calcareous marine algae, as a source of ceramics for bone tissue engineering, which will be supplied to other partners in the European funded project Hippocrates. Applicants must hold a primary degree in an appropriate area and have at least three years relevant postgraduate experience, including the identification and ecology or physiology of marine macroalgae. Salary Scale: £18,267 - £21,126 per annum.
