Llamada a alumnos de 5º de carrera interesados en participar en una tesis doctoral con título provisional: “Uso de métodos no invasivos para caracterizar poblaciones de mamíferos amenazados”
La/el candidata/o se incorporaría al Grupo de Conservación de Especies Amenazadas de la Estación Experimental de Zonas Aridas (EEZA-CSIC), Almería (http://www.eeza.csic.es).
La tesis estará asociada al proyecto ""Uso de métodos no agresivos para la caracterización poblacional y determinación del estado reproductor de mamíferos amenazados: el análisis de metabolitos hormonales excretados", recientemente concedido a Teresa Abáigar (investigador principal, EEZA), Jorge Cassinello (Instituto de Investigación en Recursos Cinegéticos-IREC) y Francisco Palomares (Estación Biológica de Doñana-EBD).
El estudio se centraría en dos ungulados norteafricanos, la gacela dama mhorr (extinguida en libertad) y el arrui (de incierto estatus en Africa y en expansión como especie exótica en nuestro país). El estudiante deberá familiarizarse con técnicas de laboratorio de análisis de hormonas en heces, el reconocimiento de individuos en cautividad y su seguimiento para estudios de comportamiento. Teresa Abaigar y Jorge Cassinello serían los directores del trabajo doctoral.
Esperaríamos del candidato una motivación especial en el estudio con animales salvajes, disponibilidad para trabajar tanto en condiciones de laboratorio como en el campo, y una muy buena nota media de carrera: no inferior a 2.5 puntos. La exigencia de una nota tan elevada se debe a que la concesión de becas predoctorales, particularmente la FPU que sería la que solicitaría este año el candidato, está particularmente reñida y depende de un elevado expediente académico.
