OPEN CALL FOR POST-DOCTORAL RESEARCHER (REF.: 2019/166)

1. JOB DESCRIPTION:
The Childhood Liver Oncology (cLOG) group at the IGTP is offering a postdoctoral position to a well-qualified, highly motivated and independent scientist who wishes to advance their scientific career in a friendly and stimulating environment within the field of translational cancer research.
The candidate will perform translational research on the main childhood liver cancer in the context of two H2020 projects, ChiLTERN and iPC. They will be involved in studies focused on validating molecular markers using samples from patients enrolled in the first international Pediatric Hepatic Tumor Trial as well as in studies on identifying new molecular drugs for therapy using innovative pre-clinical models. The final goal is to improve the clinical management of childhood liver cancer and move towards a precision medicine for this disease.

2. CANDIDATE REQUIREMENTS:
a) Candidates must hold a PhD degree preferably in molecular cell biology or cancer related fields.
b) Experience in molecular techniques (Western blot, ddPCR, qPCR, etc), cell culture (transfection, gene silencing) is required
c) Background in experimental animal research and analysis of omics data is desirable
d) Candidates should demonstrate full independence in the laboratory and the ability to work on a team
e) Immediate availability to join the group Good level of verbal and written English

3. TASKS:
a) In vitro cell culture experiments (cell transfeccion, gene silencing, proliferation assays, etc)
b) Validation of gene expression signatures and methylation biomarkers in human samples
c) Drug screening assays using liver cancer cell lines,organoids and patient-derived xenografts
d) Participation in writing scientific reports and papers, attending scientific conferences
e) Supervision of PhD and masters students

4. THE OFFER, WORKING CONDITIONS:
a) Full time work contract
b) Contract length: 1 year with the possibility of extension
c) Location: IGTP, Edifici Muntanya, Campus Can Ruti, Badalona (Barcelona)
d) Salary will depend on qualifications and demonstrated experience
