3 ofertas interesantísimas para investigar arrecifes en el mar Rojo

We are recruiting for three coral reef science positions.

The Project: The Red Sea Development Company has been established to
develop and promote The Red Sea Project: an exquisite ultra-luxury
destination within a pristine 28,000 km2 area on the Red Sea coast of Saudi
Arabia that includes an archipelago of more than 50 unspoiled islands,
volcanoes, desert, mountains, nature and culture (
https://www.theredsea.sa/en/project). The Project will set new standards
for sustainable development and environmental protection.

We are currently seeking to fill several coral reef science positions in
the environmental science and monitoring team. The team will monitor and
assess the status of a diverse range of coral reef and associated habitats
in and around the project site, as well as conduct or support practical
research relevant to the management, conservation, and enhancement of
marine habitats at the project site. We are particularly keen to help
operationalize appropriate technological solutions to coral reef
assessment.

Coral Science Associate Director: She/he will design and lead underwater
surveys, and have expertise in ecology and monitoring of corals. She/he
will play a major role in operationalizing survey approaches such as
photo-mosaics, and will contribute significantly to the development of new
technologies and marine learning approaches to automate the acquisition of
data from coral reef surveys. As needed, she/he will contribute to other
marine research, monitoring and surveillance, or enhancement activities
implemented by the Environmental Sustainability Team. She/he will have a
relevant PhD, and likely at least 3-5 years of professional experience
following their degree.

Benthic Survey Science Manager: She/he will participate in and help design
surveys to assess the status and trends of benthic organisms and habitats
at the project site. Key requirements include a relevant graduate degree,
preferably a PhD, and at least 3 years’ experience in coral reef monitoring
or survey programs. Expertise with advanced photographic survey methods,
such as photomosaics, and with the analysis of imagery from those surveys
is essential. Familiarity and experience in other aspects of coral reef
ecology and monitoring would be a considerable asset.

Reef Fish Science Manager: She/he will participate in and help design
surveys to assess the status and trends of reef fishes and their habitats
at the project site. Key requirements include a relevant graduate degree,
preferably a PhD, and at least 3 years’ experience in coral reef monitoring
or survey programs. We are seeking someone tech-savvy with good
quantitative skills. Familiarity and experience in other aspects of coral
reef ecology and monitoring, including photomosaics, would be a
considerable asset.

Staff In all positions will be required to work on a range of projects,
involving not only coral reefs, but also seagrasses, mangroves, turtles and
marine mammals. Although we are seeking practically-minded scientists, we
believe there will be considerable opportunities for members of our team to
initiate and regularly collaborate on a range of research projects relevant
to conservation, management, and enhancement of marine habitats at the
project site.

Positions are open to anyone suitably qualified, who can get permission to
live and work in Saudi Arabia. For more information and job requirements
