Quality lies at the heart of HiDef’s services and following a growth of business the company is looking to recruit an Ornithologist(s) to join our Operations team. This position within the company offers significant opportunities for the right person who will be enthusiastic, methodical, diligent, and an excellent team player with effective communication skills.

The Role:

We are expanding rapidly across all our services, combining technical and scientific excellence, and it is crucial to the company that we continue to deliver all our services in a consistent and efficient manner. The successful candidate(s) will report to the ID Team Leader and be responsible for identifying individual birds and mammals on offshore digital aerial surveys from footage taken around the UK, Ireland and occasionally elsewhere.

The role can be based in either our Workington or Edinburgh offices or be home-based.

The successful candidate will need:Excellent bird identification skills.
An understanding of seabird ecology and distributions.
Good marine mammal identification skills and awareness of species in European waters.
Proficient IT skills, especially using MS Excel, and an ability to learn new basic software.
Ability to work well as part of team, as well as being self-motivated and able to work remotely without direct supervision.
An acceptable level of broadband speed for home working.

Benefits / Remuneration:Salary £26,875 per annum based on a 37.5 hour working week
Competitive profit share scheme.
Working hours are based on Monday-Friday 08:30-17:00.
33 days annual leaver per annum, including public holidays.
4% company pension contribution.
12-month fixed term contract.
