The Swiss Ornithological Institute in Sempach, Switzerland is a non-profit foundation supported by the public and it focuses on a wide range of research topics on wild birds within and beyond Switzerland. We aim at acquiring the scientific basis for the understanding of biological systems and for the conservation of birds and their habitats.

Your tasks

In the announced job, you conduct biostatistical analyses in ongoing projects at the institute. You consult and accompany our staff regarding study design, data analyses and publication. You establish routines to analyse bird ringing data to measure demographic parameters. You also help in the continuing statistical training of the staff at the institute.

Your profile

You are an analytical person with a degree in biology or a related field with additional training in applied statistics. You have extensive knowledge of the analyses of ecological data using R (all types of linear models), and of capture-recapture data using Bugs/jags, and you have experience in publishing scientific articles in international journals. You are motivated to support others with their analysis and publication of data. You are fluent in English; knowledge of the German or French language is an asset but not a prerequisite.

Salary is according to the regulation of the Swiss Ornithological Institute and incudes social benefits. Working place is Sempach, Switzerland.
