The Centre for Conservation Ecology and Genomics (CCEG) is seeking an Emerging Research Leader to apply genomic approaches to address pressing conservation and/or biosecurity challenges. This exciting position, funded to the end of 2025, offers an opportunity to establish a dynamic research program within CCEG and enhance our existing research capabilities, which include improving conservation and biosecurity using environmental DNA, integrating ecology and genomics to improve conservation management, uncovering how species cope with rapid change, and developing new analytical tools for genomic data.

We are especially looking for someone with strong bioinformatic/analytical skills who can develop an exciting and innovative research program in collaboration with other Centre researchers and our partners that will extend our capacity to use genomic data to address applied conservation and/or biosecurity problems. This is a great opportunity for a highly motivated individual to work in a collegial and supportive team environment while building an independent research profile.

To be successful you will need:
  • A PhD or equivalent degree in biological sciences or an aligned discipline.
  • Demonstrated research excellence in genomics, evidenced by a track record of high-quality research outputs, including publications in highly regarded peer-reviewed scientific journals.
  • A demonstrated capacity and willingness to build a research program in collaboration with other researchers and to contribute to a collegial team environment.
  • Exemplary personal qualities fully aligned with our institutional values of integrity, respect, collegiality, excellence, and discovery.
