Flora Specialist

Main Description:
We are looking for a versatile full-time candidate with strong knowledge of Singapore's flora who would be willing to do fieldwork but also support bioSEA's work in ecological planning and design, ecological restoration, and desktop biodiversity assessments. Knowledge of flora and/or fieldwork experience in Southeast Asia, South Asia, Middle East will be an advantage.
The candidate is not expected to be an expert on Singapore's flora, but should be able to identify common urban and forest species. More broadly, bioSEA offers a unique value proposition and learning environment. We operate in the built environment industry with a lens of 'nature' and a strong focus on ecological design. We conduct biodiversity impact assessments (BIAs), Environmental Mitigation and Monitoring Plans (EMMPs), and also work with architects, landscape architects and engineers to infuse ecological principles in built environment projects.
Requirements:
- Degree in botany, horticulture, ecology, and related fields
- A minimum of 3 years of flora work experience in a relevant field
- Fresh graduates with a strong track record of industry/nature community stakeholder engagement and/or equivalent skills will be considered under exceptional circumstances
- Candidate must possess biodiversity-related fieldwork experience
- Experience in ecological restoration will be an advantage
- An arborist certification will be an advantage
- Interest in ecological design work. Familiarity in using design software such as Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator or equivalent will be an advantage
