Digital Content Officer, Med Sea Alliance (Consultant)

Main Description: Join the movement to protect the Mediterranean Sea! The Med Sea Alliance is looking for a proactive Digital Content Officer (Junior/Mid-Level) to boost the visibility and impact of our campaigns. If you're a creative communicator with a passion for ocean protection, strong writing skills, and experience managing digital content, we'd love to hear from you!
We bring together 20 diverse organisations to campaign against the destructive impact of bottom trawling, to tackle illegal, unreported and unregulated (IUU) fishing, and to accelerate the designation and enforcement of marine protected areas.
Key Responsibilities:
- Content planning: Proactively engage coalition members to gather updates, stories, and news relevant to campaign goals. Develop an annual content calendar aligned with coalition goals.
- Content creation: Write bi-monthly newsletters, web articles, blog posts, campaign updates and press releases. Produce basic visuals and simple layouts using tools like Canva.
- Digital channel management: Manage coalition social media accounts (primarily LinkedIn). Maintain and update the MSA website content.
- Coordination & Amplification: Work closely with communications officers in member NGOs to coordinate cross-posting, co-branding, and joint announcements.
- Campaign and event support: Support digital mobilization campaigns, live-tweet coalition events, create post-event reports.
Requirements:
- 2–5 years of experience in communications, preferably in marine, environmental or policy-related contexts
- Strong writing and editing skills in English (knowledge of French, Spanish, Italian, or Arabic is an asset)
- Experience managing social media channels (primarily LinkedIn) and website updates
- Proficiency with tools like Canva and Google Workspace
- Ability to work independently in a remote, multicultural team environment
- Organised, detail-oriented, and able to meet deadlines
- Genuine interest in marine conservation
