Main Description:
United Tanzania e.V. is seeking a Carnivore Telemetry & Spatial Ecology Specialist to support ongoing research on spotted hyenas at a permanent field research camp in Tanzania. The role involves camera trap data analysis, deployment of satellite GPS collars on large carnivores, and advanced spatial modelling. Track A candidates have the opportunity to develop a doctoral thesis using long-term datasets generated by the project.
Requirements:
- Advanced proficiency in R (mandatory)
- Experience with camtrapR and spatial statistics (SECR) highly preferred
- Hands-on experience with camera trapping and GPS collar deployment on large carnivores
- MSc in Wildlife Biology, Ecology, or related field
- Demonstrated ability to live under remote field conditions and manage intense isolation
