Main Description:
This postdoctoral position focuses on investigating the role of migratory birds in the spread of antimicrobial resistance. The successful candidate will conduct field research on breeding and non-breeding shorebirds, combined with microbial sampling. The project is part of a collaborative initiative between the University of Debrecen, HUN-REN, and the University of Oxford.
Requirements:
- PhD in animal ecology, behavioural ecology, population demography, or a related field
- Strong background in behavioural ecology, population ecology, field biology, wildlife conservation, disease ecology, and microbiology
- Experience in quantitative analyses
- Knowledge of programming languages such as R
- Experience with biostatistics or demography (desirable)
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Proficiency in English
- Field experience
- Bird ringing licence
- Full driving licence
- Gross salary up to 800,000 HUF per month (approximately 2,200 EUR)
- Social security and health contributions paid by the employer
- Substantially lower cost of living compared to Western Europe
