Contract Type: Postdoctoral position (junior, less than 2 years since PhD) - 12 to 18 months depending on available funding

Main Description:
This junior postdoctoral position focuses on investigating the population dynamics of transposable elements (TEs) and their contribution to functional genome annotation in date palm (Phoenix dactylifera). The research combines population genomics approaches with functional genomic data, including gene expression, chromatin accessibility, DNA methylation, and annotation of regulatory regions. The postdoc will have flexibility in defining the specific research direction within this framework, with opportunities for national and international collaboration.

Requirements:
  • PhD in biology, evolutionary biology, or bioinformatics
  • Strong experience in genomics, transcriptomics, or comparative genomics
  • Proficiency in scripting and computational analyses
  • Experience with population genomics, long-read sequencing, transposable elements, and/or deep learning is a plus
  • Autonomy, rigor, adaptability, good communication skills, and collaborative spirit
