Very many PhD scholarships in Australia

Students are invited to lodge expressions of interests for the forthcoming scholarships rounds that will include: Endeavour, International Postgraduate Research Scholarships (IPRS), UWS and Australian Postgraduate Awards. Scholarships are highly competitive and will be assessed on the basis of undergraduate (Bachelors) performance, postgraduate (MSc) performance and research output (primarily publications).  Projects involving collaborative work between UWS and overseas institutions will be will be considered.  Scholarships details can be found at http://www.uws.edu.au/research/scholarships.
The School of Medicine at the University of Western Sydney (Australia) offers Ph.D. projects in a range of areas including:
1.      Drug discovery for Alzheimer's disease (AD).
2.      Evaluation of plant-based anti-inflammatory drugs in mouse models.
3.      Novel targets in the transition from acute to chronic pain.
4.      Role of cortical and subcortical structures in the genesis of migraine.
5.      Clinical assessment and mechanistic origins of diabetic neuropathy.
6.      New stem cell-based approaches to eye disease.
7.      Maximising Sensory-Motor performance.
8.      Auditory physiology and tinnitus
9.      Vestibular physiology and interactions
10.     Regenerative Medicine and lens

Admission to the program is based on a competitive selection procedure.
Applicants require a Bachelor of Science in Neuroscience biology, biochemistry or a related area with excellent undergraduate marks, and a MSc with a strong research component. Knowledge of one or more of these areas is desired:  electrophysiology, rodent behavioural testing, confocal microscopy, stereology (Stereo investigator, Neurolucida), imaging techniques (MRI, DTI), behavioural analysis,. histological/anatomical techniques or natural product chemistry. Publications in peer-reviewed journals are an advantage.
