A PhD position is available to study the neurophysiological correlates of number representations and basic calculations (addition, subtraction) in behaviourally-trained rhesus monkeys (for information, see Nieder, 2016, Nat. Rev. Neurosci.). Much effort will be directed at the prefrontal and posterior parietal cortices, endbrain region associated with the highest levels of cognition in primates. A sophisticated behavioural methodology will be combined with techniques for examining the electrical activity of groups of neurons.
Requirements for this position:
- solid experience in Matlab and/or C-programming
- passion for animal training
- familiarity with neurobiology
- MSc. degree in Biology, Cognitive Science, Computer Science, or
Physics
The candidate will participate in a stimulating scientific
adventure. The Unversity of Tübingen has a long tradition of
internationally renowned research in systems neuroscience. An
international and multidisciplinary doctoral program can be
