PhD in seabird ecology and trophic interactions in the Arctic Ocean - NINA & UiT Arctic University of Norway, Tromsø - 3 years fully funded - Deadline 25 March 2026

Location: Tromsø, Norway

Organization: Norwegian Institute for Nature Research (NINA) in collaboration with UiT - The Arctic University of Norway

Contract Type: Fully funded 3-year PhD position

Main Description: PhD position focused on seabird communities and trophic ecology in the Arctic Ocean, their interactions with sea-ice habitats, and vulnerability to environmental changes. Part of the Arctic Ocean 2050 national research program, combining basic research with applied science in an interdisciplinary collaborative environment.

Requirements:
  • Master's degree in ecology or closely related field
  • Strong academic background (grade B or better in last 2 years)
  • Broad knowledge in marine ecology and oceanography
  • Solid knowledge of statistics and R programming
  • Minimum B2 English (oral & written)
  • Advantages: GIS/spatial analysis, Python, seabird/arctic ecology experience, Norwegian/Scandinavian language, fieldwork on research cruises, large spatial datasets analysis, lab work in trophic ecology
