Main Description:
The Garrick Lab is recruiting M.S. and Ph.D. students in evolutionary biology, phylogeography, and biodiversity science. Students will develop independent projects investigating the processes that shape patterns of genetic diversity, endemism, and species distributions across the Southern Appalachian Mountains and Interior Highlands. The lab integrates field sampling, molecular genetics, genomics, spatial analyses, and computational modeling to address questions at the intersection of evolution, biogeography, and biodiversity science.
Requirements:
- Strong interest in evolutionary biology, phylogeography, and/or biodiversity science
- Experience with forest-associated saproxylic arthropods (insects associated with dead wood) is preferred, but other compatible taxa will be considered
Funding is available for graduate students. Specific funding opportunities can be discussed directly with the PI.
