Internship (unpaid, educational). Available sessions: Winter (January–February), Spring (March–May), and Summer (May–July) 2027.

Main Description
The California Wildlife Center offers a hands-on internship in the rescue and rehabilitation of marine mammals, specifically California sea lions and northern elephant seals. Interns will participate in all aspects of care, including stranding response, capture, handling, patient care, and animal release.

Training will cover:
  • Rescue and stranding response
  • Capture and safe handling techniques
  • Daily patient care
  • Necropsy procedures
  • Animal release

Requirements
  • Minimum age: 18 years
  • COVID-19 vaccination required (proof must be submitted with application)
  • Physical ability to lift 50 lbs
  • Ability to work on rocky terrain and beach environments
  • Flexible availability, including weekends and holidays
  • Valid driver's license and personal transportation
  • Prior experience with animal care or marine mammals is not required
