Contract Type: Volunteer (8+ weeks, December 2026 - March 2027)
Main Description: Volunteer research assistant position focused on the ecology of elephant seals and other pinnipeds on a remote island. Responsibilities include conducting censuses, tagging/banding, monitoring marine and terrestrial wildlife, data entry, and maintaining the research station.
Requirements:
- Degree in biology or a related field
- Previous experience in ecological research preferred
- Experience with pinnipeds or other large mammals preferred
- Enthusiasm for intensive fieldwork on an isolated island
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a team
- Physical ability for rigorous hiking and climbing
