Main Description:
The Benioff Ocean Science Laboratory at UC Santa Barbara is seeking a Postdoctoral Researcher to conduct field research on gray whale ecology and biology in San Francisco Bay. The position focuses on addressing ecological questions about how and why gray whales are using the Bay as a migratory stopover, and the effects of this stopover behavior on the whales themselves.

Requirements:

• PhD (or equivalent, near completion) in biology, ecology, chemistry, or a related field
• Relevant experience in one or more of the following: marine mammal ecology, benthic/feeding ecology, toxicology, eDNA or stable isotope analysis, UAV/drone-based data collection, or statistical methods for field biomonitoring data

Benefits/Conditions:

• Salary range: $71,491 to $85,736 per year (100% time)
• 2-year initial appointment
