 Caribbean Program Director

Location: Remote, preferably within the Caribbean or Florida, U.S.

Organization: Environmental Protection in the Caribbean (EPIC)

Contract Type: Contracted position, one year (with possible extension) starting September 2025

Main Description: Environmental Protection in the Caribbean (EPIC) is seeking an innovative and skilled Program Director with a passion for conservation to develop and supervise projects throughout the Caribbean with a focus on EPIC flagship program locations in Sint Maarten/St. Martin, Grenada, St. Vincent and the Grenadines, Haiti, and the U.S. Virgin Islands. Expansion to other locations is also desired.

EPIC is an independent non-profit (501c3) founded in 2000 in Florida, U.S. with the mission of protecting the Caribbean through research and community-based actions. The mission is achieved through the conservation tools of Science, Education, Advocacy and Stewardship (SEAS). Visit epicislands.org to learn more.

The Program Director will develop and supervise projects, identify and write grants, develop and handle administrative tasks, and serve as liaison between EPIC Headquarters and program field offices and staff.

Requirements:

  • Minimum Bachelor's degree, preferably natural resources management, environmental or conservation management, development studies, or relevant fields
  • Demonstrated successful management experience
  • Track record of effectively leading and regionally/internationally scaling performance-based programs and staff
  • Strong grant writing skills and demonstrated success in securing funding for projects
  • Grant management experience
  • Experience in data-driven program evaluation
  • Organizational management experience, strategic thinking ability
  • Budget management skills including preparation, analysis, decision-making and reporting
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Knowledge of Caribbean conservation issues and familiarity with diverse Caribbean cultures
  • Ability to work effectively with diverse groups and engage wide range of stakeholders

Benefits/Conditions:

  • Compensation: US $25 per hour, up to 20 hours per week with increase to 40 hours per week possible

  • EPIC covers travel costs, specific software or equipment when predetermined and agreed upon
  • Contractors must self-file and pay appropriate taxes/insurances
