Oferta de doctorado (FPI, como la mía :P) para estudiar coevolución entre plantas y hongos (Huesca, España)

(Mira  Àreu, plantas y hongos, y cerca de las montañas :D) **Position: PhD Student in Bioflora Research Group** We are currently seeking an enthusiastic and motivated PhD student to join our Bioflora research group to work with us on co-evolution and adaptive speciation of pooid grasses and their fungal endophytes. We invite applications from ambitious candidates with relevant research experience and a passion to conduct research and innovation activities within the framework of a project funded by the Spanish Ministry of Science and Innovation (PID2022-140074NB-I00). The main objective of this research is to advance knowledge on the potential large extent of lateral gene transfer (LGT) in pooids and how this mechanism has contributed to generating evolutionary novelty. Additionally, we aim to investigate the potential co-evolution of grass-Epichloë holobionts and how this phenomenon has contributed to the success of adaptive speciation in temperate grasses. **Specific Objectives:*...

Oferta compartida por Nuria Katharine H. Putnam Fellowships in Plant Science The Arnold Arboretum of Harvard University invites applicants for research fellowships in plant science. Putnam Fellowships offer excellent opportunities for advanced research and study using the Arboretum's living collections of woody plants. Scientists with a PhD and who have identified an independent research project that would utilize the Arboretum's living collections are encouraged to apply. The living collection, numbering some 15,000 plants, in over 2,200 species, is distinguished as one of the most thoroughly documented collections of temperate woody plants in the world. Taxonomic diversity and breadth within the collection are noteworthy, and the floras of China, Japan, and Korea are particularly well represented. Deadline: Feb 1 Eligibility: Proposals are sought from early-career individuals with a PhD in plant biology, evolution, plant genetics, plant ecology, horticulture, or related disc...

Oferta de doctorado en biologia evolutiva de plantas (Austria)

The Research Group of Plant Ecological Genomics ( http://plantgenomics.univie.ac.at ) of the Department for Botany and Biodiversity Research at the University of Vienna, Austria is recruiting a PhD student in Plant Evolutionary Biology (m/f) Whole genome doubling and hybridization profoundly shaped plant genome evolution. However, to be successful, first generations allopolyploids must quickly adjust their genome and function, thereby altering their ecological properties and adaptive success, as a function of their environment. The duplicated nature of polyploids buffers more effectively deleterious alleles and provides genome-wide opportunities for adaptive evolution. Recurrent origins of polyploids are widespread and provide natural replicates to study the links between whole genome doubling and rapid adaptation to divergent environments. A 3-years PhD position funded by the Austrian Science Fund (FWF) is immediately available in our group, focusing of a fairly young polyplo...

Oferta de PhD en Suecia estudiando biología molecular en plantas

We are looking for a highly motivated PhD student to join our research on plant metabolism, carbon allocation and cell wall biosynthesis. In this project, you will perform pioneering work to unravel biochemical mechanisms responsible for carbon allocation to wood with the applied goal of increasing biomass accumulation potential of trees. You will use both Arabidopsis and aspen as model systems. You will have the opportunity to be trained in state-of-the-art techniques in plant molecular biology, biochemistry, metabolic flux and cell wall analysis, as well as scientific thinking and writing. You will be employed as a PhD student for 4 years in the Niittylä group at Umeå Plant Science Center ( www.upsc.se ). For recent publications related to the PhD project see for example Mahboubi et al. (2013) and (2015) and Rende et al. (2016). UPSC is a leading research institute in experimental plant biology with a friendly and international atmosphere providing a highly stimulating environment fo...
