Your Opportunity at ARC’TERYX: 


As the Climate Specialist, your primary focus will be on driving organizational change and bringing our carbon emissions reduction roadmap to life. With your in-depth climate knowledge, you will work with cross functional partners to bring emission reduction programs and projects to life by providing emission reduction expertise, helping departments build capacity and programs, establish KPIs and work plans, and track progress.  


This role is based out of our North Vancouver office and is open to hybrid and remote work. Candidates must be eligible to work in Canada.

Our Sustainability team is small, mighty and operates in close partnership with business functions for the highest impact. We have a core team of passionate climate experts responsible for developing strategy, programming and measuring progress against our company climate goals. We are part of the Supply Chain organization and work with key partners throughout Arc’teryx and Amer Sports.  

If you were in the Climate Specialist role now, here are some of the core activities you would be doing:

Supporting the Director, Climate and department-level leadership with emissions reduction planning, implementation and ongoing management across scopes 1,2 and 3 

Being an in-house subject matter expert on energy efficiency and carbon reduction techniques, tools, approaches, and associated energy/carbon accounting. Particularly related to supply chains and building energy use 

Working cross-functionally across Arc’teryx and with our parent company, Amer Sports, to collaboratively build and monitor emission reduction roadmaps, KPIs, etc. to meet our climate goals with speed and efficiency 

Supporting teams to act on emission reduction and other climate opportunities - designing, coordinating and monitoring the results of initiatives against our climate goals 

Identifying, developing and ensuring we have the right tools in place to support effective and efficient program management 

Staying informed about emerging trends, technologies, and best practices in environmental sustainability and emission reduction. Continuously explore opportunities for innovation and improvement, leveraging new technologies and partnerships to drive positive impact and enhance the company's competitive advantage 

Connecting with stakeholders in the apparel industry and sustainability communities for inspiration and collaboration opportunities 

Supporting employee education and communications on climate and supporting external reporting 

Here are some of the things you could be working on in the future:

Leading and managing specific emission reduction and/or inset/offset programs  

Leading studies and evaluations with the goal of identifying further opportunities to reduce emissions and opportunities to reduce impacts on nature 

Researching and implementing behaviour change approaches to emission, waste, and water reductions  

Are you our next Climate Specialist?

You have an undergraduate and/or graduate degree in engineering, energy management, environmental science and/or business related field with appropriate certifications or an equivalent combination of related education and experience. 

You have 3+ years of experience in developing, leading and monitoring emission reduction programs and/or management consulting experience in sustainability 

You have experience, education and/or understanding of the apparel industry and/or with supply chains 

You have knowledge of current and emerging sustainability principles, practices, regulations and technologies related to energy management, supply chains, GHG emissions reduction, climate change mitigation and adaptation 

You have hands-on project management skills 

You have sound knowledge of tools and methodologies regarding climate monitoring and decision support management 

You are curious and proactive in identifying the root cause of issues and developing solutions 

You can effectively manage multiple projects and strategize around competing priorities while operating with integrity, and maintaining personal accountability 

You are passionate about making change and driving positive impact 

Willingness to travel 

You are positive, optimistic, and approach things with a good sense of humour

$80,000 - $100,000 a year

A reasonable estimate of the pay range is CAD$80,000 - CAD$100,000 at the time of this posting. Within the range, individual pay is determined by factors such as job-related skills, relevant experience, education and/or training.

Job Summary
The purpose of this position is to conduct field research on large mammal ecology (40%), to support the coordination/administration of field projects (40%), and to conduct scientific analysis, writing, and investigation (20%).

Organizational Status
This position will report directly to the PI, Dr. Adam Ford.

Work Performed

·         Variety of field work related to large mammal research and wildlife

conservation.

·         Operating 4x4 vehicles/OHVs.

·         Conducts research-related tasks such as GIS, telemetry, animal capture,

camera traps, and discharging firearms.

·         Liaises with lab members, staff, graduate students, research partners,

government officials, Indigenous communities, and the public.

·         Collects and synthesizes data according to established protocols.

  Administrative support for WiRE Lab logistics and reporting.

·         Performs other related duties as required.


Consequence of Error/Judgement
The work of this position will be monitored by the PI. Errors or incorrect decisions could potentially result in delays in completing the project or seriously compromise the quality of the research.

Supervision Received
This position will be directly supervised by the PI, Dr. Adam Ford.

Supervision Given
This position will not be supervising others. 

Minimum Qualifications
High school graduation, a minimum one year of related experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Preferred Qualifications

·         A Master’s of Science Degree is preferred.

·         Experience performing field work.

  Drivers license and clean driving record

·         Able to lift 40lbs.

·         Operation of 4x4 vehicles/OHVs.

·         Prior experience with research methods including GIS, telemetry, animal

capture, camera traps and discharging firearms preferred

·         Experience performing statistical analysis.

·         Demonstrated communication/interpersonal skills.

·         Demonstrated organizational skills.  

·         Working knowledge of computer applications for word processing and

Kin Mark Recapture framework @ Dalhousie University, Department of Biology

Support is available for a PhD position in the Ruzzante lab
(https://ruzzante.ca) at Dalhousie University (Halifax, Nova Scotia,
Canada) for research on genomics and the estimation of population
abundance in an exploited marine fish using the “Close Kin Mark
Recapture” framework. The successful candidate will have a background
in population genomics and statistics with demonstrated evidence of
peer-reviewed publications, strong lab and field skills, and an interest
in working collaboratively within a diverse research group.The position
is part of a multidisciplinary project and will involve collaboration
with colleagues in the Department of Statistics at Dalhousie, as well
as at Fisheries and Oceans Canada (DFO), in the Marine Institute at
Memorial University of Newfoundland and in Biology at Université Quebec
at Rimouski. The position is expected to start in the Spring or Fall of
2025 for the 2025/2026 academic year.

Qualifications: MSc in Evolutionary Biology/ Population genomics

Summary: IQVIA is hiring to expand a sponsor-dedicated team, working fully within the environment of a prominent Pharma company. The position will work in a data visualization team, safety statistical programming. The statistical programmer works collaboratively with the end users, internal colleagues to ensure the high-quality production of data visualizations and statistical outputs using Spotfire/R and other visualization tools. Support real-time online clinical trial data review.

Job responsibilities:

  • Programs visualization analysis datasets using SAS, R/R Shiny.

  • Assesses the quality of analysis data and performs cross-study analyses.

  • Works collaboratively with Clinical Development to meet study deliverables and timelines.

  • Creation and updates for SDTM/ADaM programming specifications.

  • Follow the steps to set-up studies using Spotfire or R/R Shiny.

  • Assist in the review of GSI Policies, SOPs and other controlled documents.

  • Collaboration with staff in Biostatistics, Clinical Data Management, and Clinical Research and Global Drug Safety.

  • Provide input to and participate in Programming and Biometrics meetings.

  • Contribute to the continuous improvement of Programming Environment.

Qualifications:

  • 4 years of more of industry programming experience, along with a bachelor’s degree in biostatistics, computer science, biology, pharmacology or related.

  • Proficient in data visualization software – Spotfire, R/R Shiny.

  • Demonstrates SAS programming proficiency.

  • Knowledge of clinical trial study design and electronic data submission requirements.

  • Sufficient understanding to follow the analysis plan and provide programming support for study deliverables.

  • SQL, Python and Java programming skills is nice to have experience.

ABOUT YOU:

The Communications Coordinator will leverage the Sustainable Forestry Initiative’s (SFI) brand positioning across all communications and marketing efforts, with particular emphasis on drafting social media content and writing articles. The ideal candidate has bilingual English/French professional communications experience (though this is not a requirement to apply) researching and drafting content across a variety of platforms, for a variety of audiences; the ability to effectively plan and meet deadlines; excellent organizational skills and attention to detail; and an interest in sustainability, natural resources conservation, forestry, and/or environmental education.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

Written Communications for SFI, PLT, and PLT Canada (75% of role)

  • Outline, draft, and edit social media
  • Outline, draft, and edit blogs and articles
  • Create and promote campaign sharing toolkits
  • Draft, edit, and update webpages in WordPress
  • French translation skills for quick responses on social media, proofing resources, coordinating translations with consultants, etc.

Project & Relationship Management (15% of role)

  • Lead biweekly social media meetings, proactively sharing agendas, recapping notes and action items.
  • Manage relationships with videography and advertising consultants
  • Share meeting notes and coordinate project deliverables and deadlines with staff and stakeholders via email and Asana
  • Support partner and advertising research

Advertising & Metrics Reporting (10% of role)

  • Support the creation, launch, and reporting of social media (Meta, Twitter, LinkedIn), web, and newsletter advertising

PHYSICAL DEMANDS / TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS:
