La Society for the Study of Evolution (SSE) ofrece el programa Undergraduate Diversity at Evolution (UDE) para que estudiantes de pregrado asistan a la reunión anual Evolution 2025, que se celebrará del 20 al 24 de junio en Athens, Georgia, Estados Unidos.

MSc Scholarships (2022) in the Wildlife Institute, Beijing Forestry University, China

Beijing Forestry University (BFU) is currently offering funded positions for international students with great willingness to study in China, under the Chinese Government Scholarship Scheme. Full scholarships are available for suitable candidates who is looking forward to gaining a MSc degree in the Wildlife Institute (WI), School of Ecology and Nature Conservation, BFU from September 2022.

WI was founded in 2008 with the goal of providing evidence for wildlife conservation and management within China and internationally. As a university-based research unit, WI-BFU carries out interdisciplinary scientific research in fields such as wildlife ecology, evolution, conservation and wildlife management. WI has a strong focus on research and conservation of endangered feline species such as snow leopard, leopard, clouded leopard and tiger as well as symbolic terrestrial species such as Asian elephant and Bactrian camel. Projects in WI range from high plateau desert ecosystem in northwest China to tropical forest ecosystem in southwest China. In addition to an integrated network within China, such as National Forestry and Grassland Administration, China Wildlife Conservation Association, and Eco-Bridge Continental (https://eco-bridgecontinental.org.cn/) as a long-term partner, WI is in close collaboration with Rocky Mountain Research Station, U.S. Forest Service, Marwell Wildlife, IUCN, UNDP, PANTHERA and Snow Leopard Network. Through undertaking collaborative research, academic exchanges and the mutual cultivation of postgraduate students, WI has strengthened its international status and furthered its development as a well-known wildlife institute in China. Currently there are seven international students (two PhDs and five masters) who come from US, UK, Canada, Paraguay, Japan, India and Mongolia working in WI. Before, eight international students (five PhDs and three masters) who came from the US, UK, Italy and France have graduated by the end of 2021.

Currently there are two positions available for MSc degree (three-year course with full-English curriculum) in WI, research topics will focus on the following aspects: Conservation biology, landscape genetics and molecular ecology of endangered species; Ecology and conservation of mammals, especially wild felids and their prey, conflicts between wildlife and human beings. We are looking for students with molecular background particularly studies on the fields of genomics, population genetics, and experience on data analysis to join our lab. Candidates with academic publications will be preferred and prioritized.

A full scholarship will provide, excluding international traveling expenses:
- University fees (tuition, laboratory and learning materials, bench fees)

- On-campus accommodation (double room)

- Stipendiary living allowance (3,000 RMB per month)

- Comprehensive medical health insurance

Beca para trabajar un año en ecología de esponjas en las islas Azores

MSc degree fellowship IMAR /SPONGES/003/2017

Conditions of Preference and Functions: The IMAR (Instituto do Mar) opens a call for the selection of candidates with a MSc degree for a fellowship within the funded EU/ Project H2020-BG-2015-2- 679849-2” “Deep-sea Sponge Grounds Ecosystems of the North Atlantic: an integrated approach towards their preservation and sustainable exploitation”. The selected candidate will be granted a scholarship for the duration of 12 months, starting April 2017, to develop research activities on deep-sea sponges of the Azores.

Project/work tasks: Although globally recognized as important habitat forming organisms, the full composition and structure of sponges dominated communities as well as their geographical distributions remain largely understudied. The overall objective of this project will aim at increase the knowledge of deep-sea sponges in the Atlantic. Therefore, the research fellow will integrate a project focusing on what are amongst the most ecologically and biologically important and vulnerable marine ecosystems of the deep-sea - sponge grounds – that have thus far received very little research and conservation attention.
The selected candidate will essentially organize, catalogue and identify deep-sea sponge specimens of the Azores. The candidate will also annotate video footage for the presence of sponges. He/she will prepare technical and scientific reports and collaborate in the writing of scientific publications. Ideally the candidate will apply to PhD scholarship in order to pursuit to PhD studies.

Qualifications: The successful candidate should have a Master degree or equivalent in environmental and or marine sciences. Experience in the taxonomy of deep-sea sponges is fundamental. Preference will be given to candidates familiar with deep-sea ecosystems and Azorean organisms. Additional preferential conditions include: experience in video annotation, data management and statistical analysis, capacity of work in multidisciplinary teams, management and organizational skills.
The selected candidate must demonstrate confidence, learning capabilities and good habits of work. He/She must be motivated, able to work independently, and must demonstrate good collaborative skills and keenness on fulfilment of time tables and dead-lines. Good communication skills in oral and written English are essential. The successful candidate must have availability to initiate the work upon conclusion of the evaluation that is expected by March 2017.

The work will be based in the island of Faial (Azores - Portugal) and it is mandatory that the candidate lives in Faial for the duration of the scholarship.

Conditions of the scholarship: Duration: 12 months, on an exclusive basis as mandated by IMAR-Institute do Mar fellowship regulations.

Compensation: The research fellow will receive a monthly allowance of 980 euros, according to the table of Research Grants values in accordance with the Foundation for Science and Technology (FCT) regulations (https://www.fct.pt/apoios/bolsas/valores). The fellow will be covered by a personal accident’s and can contribute voluntarily to the national social security system, according to the Dec.-Lei nº40/49 from 1th February.

If a suitable candidate is not found, applications will continue to be accepted until the placement is fulfilled for an additional month. International Postgraduate Research Scholarships (IPRS)

International Postgraduate Research Scholarships (IPRS) are funded by the Australian Government and awarded to international candidates on the basis of academic merit and research potential.

An IPRS will cover your tuition fees and your Overseas Student Health Cover (OSHC), and provide a stipend (living allowance), but will not pay for travel expenses. A thesis allowance is funded to cover the cost of printing and binding the thesis.

Highlands Biological Station
Grants-in-Aid of Research

Highlands Biological Station (HBS) is now accepting applications for scholarships for research to be
conducted at HBS during the summer 2016.

For nearly 50 years the Highlands Biological Foundation, Inc. has provided grants in support of
scientific research at HBS, bringing graduate students and research scientists to Highlands from
across the country and around the world. Grant recipients are expected to spend time in residence
at HBS, as they and other researchers and students benefit from mutual interaction in the HBS
academic community. Support may be requested for one to twelve weeks. Awards are based on
the period of residence at HBS according to the following schedule: Graduate, $350/week;
Postdoctoral, $450/week. Recipients of HBS Grants-in-Aid are provided bench space without
charge.

Applications (cover sheet & proposal) must be submitted as a single PDF document before 5:00
p.m. EST on 1 March 2016. Proposals are reviewed by the HBS Board of Scientific Advisors.
Applicants are notified in early April, following final approval by the HBS Board of Directors.

Adelaide International Undergraduate Scholarships (AIUS)

The University of Adelaide offers a scholarship program for commencing international students undertaking undergraduate study. Scholarships in this program have the following conditions:

  • Available for commencing international undergraduate students only;
  • Open to citizens of any country (except Australia and New Zealand);
  • Provides a waiver of 25% of the annual tuition fee for each year of the program for the full duration of the program, up to a maximum of four years;
  • Up to 40 scholarships available each year;
  • Available for study in any discipline except Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS), Bachelor of Dental Surgery (BDS), Bachelor of Oral Health and Bachelor of Science (Veterinary Bioscience)
  • Open to eligible applicants completing Foundation Studies or secondary studies overseas or in Australia, or those transferring into the later years of an undergraduate degree with advanced standing

Students Scholarships for marine science (USA)

The Marine Aquarium Societies of North America (MASNA) is proud to present the 2015 - 2016 MASNA Student Scholarships.

MASNA is a non-profit organization composed of marine aquarium societies and individual hobbyists from North America and abroad, totaling several thousand individuals.

The application for the 2015 - 2016 $4,000 MASNA Student Scholarships is now available.

This year there are two scholarships available; one $4,000 scholarship for a college undergraduate student and one $4,000 scholarship for a college graduate student.

The two $4,000 2015 - 2016 MASNA Student Scholarships are made possible by our generous sponsors Doctors Foster and Smith LiveAquaria.com, Ecotech Marine, and Seachem.

This is the 7th year for the MASNA Student Scholarship program. In total, the MASNA Student Scholarship program has contributed $32,000 to college students who have significantly impacted the marine aquarium hobby.

To be eligible for a $4,000 MASNA Student Scholarship, an applicant must be a current/entering undergraduate or graduate student at an accredited college or university.

The student must have declared a major/focus or have intent to declare a major/focus in one of the marine science disciplines.

Selection will be based upon the student's academic history and the student's contributions and demonstrated commitment to the marine aquarium hobby.

North American students, no matter where they are studying in the world, as well as students from abroad, who are studying in North America, are eligible, as long as they attend/plan to attend an accredited college or university.

The deadline for submission is June 19, 2015.

Graduate Scholarship $4,000 (Canada)

The rare Charitable Research Reserve is a 900+ acre property in Cambridge
and North Dumfries, Ontario at the confluence of the Grand and the Speed
Rivers.  The goal of rare is to protect this environmentally sensitive
landscape intact, in perpetuity, and to promote the use of the property for
education and research.  The property includes a broad range of habitats
including riparian zones, upland and lowland deciduous forest (old-growth
and second-growth), savanna, cliffs, coldwater streams, deciduous swamps,
marshes, hedgerows, agricultural fields and old fields.

The rare Scholarship in Graduate Research is valued at $4,000 and is open to
all Canadian and International graduate students who will conduct field
research on rare property between May 2014 and April 2015.  The field of
study is open and could include, but is not limited to, research in ecology,
zoology, geology, restoration ecology, hydrology, botany, soil science,
archaeology, agriculture and education. The Scholarship will allow students
to study in a relatively undisturbed, yet highly accessible site.  The
monetary award will help ensure successful candidates have the necessary
resources to conduct and report on their research at rare.  It will also
allow the student to give an oral presentation at a conference in their
discipline.

Applications Details:

1.Applications can be submitted until 5:00 pm on Wednesday, April 23rd,
2014.
2.Students will be required to provide a final report to rare by Monday, May
4th, 2015.
3.The successful applicant will be notified by May 14th, 2014.  A sum of
$3,500 will be awarded shortly thereafter while the remaining $500 will be
awarded in May, 2015, upon successful completion of the requirements of the
scholarship (including the final report and conference presentation).
4.The recipient will retain all intellectual property rights
5.The research will be required to go through the normal rare Research
Application approval process.

Submission Details:

1.Please include your name, telephone number and email address, the name of
your supervisor, department and university where the research will be
completed;
2.Please submit current university transcripts from all institutions you
attend or attended as an undergraduate or postgraduate student;
3.Include the names, telephone numbers and email addresses for two
references who can best assess your academic credentials.
4.Provide an outline of the proposed research (3-5 pages) including:
a) the problem the research is addressing;
b) your hypothesis;
c) your sampling design, field equipment and statistical tests that will be
employed;
d) the length of time fieldwork will be conducted at rare;
e) the areas at rare where you will be sampling (give specific habitats
and/or precise locations if
possible);
f) details on how the results will be made available to academics and the
general public.

Graduate Scholarship Program For International Students (Turkey)

The Scientific and Technological Research Council of Turkey (TÜBİTAK) grants scholarships for international students seeking to pursue a graduate degree in Turkey in the fields of Natural Sciences, Engineering and Technological Sciences, Medical Sciences, Agricultural Sciences, Social Sciences and Humanities.(Clinical sciences are beyond the scope of scholarship program.)

Award Details

A monthly stipend of 1.500 Turkish Liras (TL) for MSc/MA students
A monthly stipend of 1.800 Turkish Liras (TL) for PhD students
A monthly allowance for health insurance coverage for the award holder only.
Tuition Fee (Up to 2.000 Turkish Liras)

9 PhD positions and 3 MD Scholarschips in the field of Integrative Oncology (Berlin)

The Berlin School of Integrative Oncology (BSIO) offers a structured 3-year doctoral program jointly educating basic scientists and physicians/medical students in the field of integrative oncology and features excellent research conditions, a comprehensive curriculum and a broad supervision and mentoring network.
Students may also conduct part of their project at one of the school’s renowned international partner institutions.

The BSIO (Director: Prof. Dr. Clemens A. Schmitt), funded within the Excellence Initiative of the German federal and state governments, is planning to award up to

9 PhD positions (Biomedical PhD track; Dr. rer. nat.) and
3 MD  scholarships (MD track; Dr. med.).

Eligibility criteria – Biomedical PhD track (Dr. rer. nat):
•       M.Sc. in basic sciences or equivalent or
•       B.Sc. in basic sciences (fast track) or
•       in rare cases: enrolment in medical school/graduation from medical school

Eligibility criteria - MD track (Dr. med.):
•       enrolment in medical school or
•       graduation from medical school

Further eligibility criteria for all applicants:
•       a proof of English proficiency (as English is the graduate school’s official language) (e.g. TOEFL, IELTS or similar tests) and
•       2 reference letters.

The positions will be paid according to the regulations of the civil service collective wage agreement (TV-L Charité; 65% of level E13). There is no tuition fee for the program.
