Volunteer with Tropical Bats

VOLUNTEER FIELD ASSISTANTS (2 positions available) needed for October 1, 2011 to June 1, 2012 (dates flexible but minimum 4 months) to assist with a study on the foraging behavior of the tropical frog-eating bat, Trachops cirrhosus. Work will be conducted at Smithsonian Tropical Research Institute facilities in Gamboa, PANAMA. No prior experience is required, but applicants must be comfortable working at night. Work will include mistnetting bats, behavioral experiments, and bat husbandry. Pre-exposure rabies vaccines are required. Assistants are expected to work 5 days a week with 2 days off. I will cover housing and $200 per month for food, but no salary is vailable.
