5 researcher positions at the Aronia Coastal Zone Research Team (ACZRT)



Aronia Research and Development Institute is a joint unit serving both Åbo Akademi University
(Åbo) and Novia University of Applied Sciences (Raseborg).
Research Team on Coastal Ecosystems and Natural Resource Management
Successful applicants will be employed by the Department of Bioscience, Åbo Akademi
University and the positions, which are for 3 years (with a possility for an extension of 2 years)
will be based at Novia Campus Raseborg, Ekenäs (www.novia.fi/aronia), starting 1.1.2013.
The team members will run high profile research and back up existing research and development
projects. Aronia’s focus lies on ecosystems and natural resource management in a socioecological framework.
Applications are invited from individuals holding a PhD with a solid  productivity record and
proven teaching and supervision skills. Preferred areas of research may include population,
community, and evolutionary ecology, conservation biology, ecosystem services, governance and
management of coastal areas. Successful candidates should have the ability to create cross-
disciplinary synergy and have a positive view on outreach activity. The duties of the position are
to
- establish their own externally funded research groups and maintain an active network of
collaboration both nationally and internationally
- teach (10 – 15 ects) at the master level and supervise both at Åbo Akademi University and
Novia University of Applied Sciences
The salary is in accordance with salary level 5 – 7 according to the level for teaching staff at Åbo
Akademi University. An individual salary, which is based on performances, will be added to the

A trial period applies to new employees.
