Member of academic staff/PhD Student (Germany)

At TU Dresden, Faculty of Science, Institute of Microbiology, the Chair
of Molecular Biotechnology is of 01.01.2013 offering a position as

              Member of academic staff/PhD Student

within a collaborative research project (partnering HTW Berlin) funded by
the Bundesministerium fuer Bildung und Forschung (BMBF). Employment is
subject to the funding commitment of BMBF, which entails 50 % of the
fulltime weekly hours to 31.12.2015. Payment is according to the
nationally agreed scale E13 TV-L. The period of employment is governed by
the Fixed Term Research Contracts Act (Wissenschaftszeitvertragsgesetz
WissZeitVG).
Tasks:  investigation, evaluation and development of Pickering Emulsion
systems as basic tools for the immobilisation and application of
catalytically active enzymes in technical synthesis, including preparation
and handling of enzymes from classes 1, 3 and 4, preparation and handling
of Pickering Emulsions based on various nanoparticles and solvent systems
(with particular emphasise on environmentally benign systems) and
appropriate analytics. Methods will range from basic
microbiological/molecular biological techniques to modern biochemical,
biotechnological and chemical approaches. The chair of molecular
biotechnology provides appropriate equipment and an interdisciplinary team
to tackle the project.
Requirements: Master or Diploma degree in Biology, Biochemistry,
Biotechnology or Chemistry with a background in Enzyme Technology; high
motivation; expertise in microbiological, biochemical and chemical
techniques; ability to work target-oriented and independently; high
commitment and willingness to integrate into the team and to take over
responsibility; good language skills in English. Preferably, the candidate
is also experienced in collaboration with partners from both academia and
industry.
