Data Science Engineer with NLP Experience at NatureAlpha
Location: London or partially remote (but able to check in with the team in London regularly)

Main Description: NatureAlpha enables the world's largest Asset Managers to understand the impacts that their portfolio companies have upon the natural world. We utilise leading edge technologies to deliver Data as a Service and Software as a Service, enabling companies to understand their impacts upon nature and to identify where they need to improve and transform their operations.
We capture and process vast swathes of environmental data, transforming raw information into actionable insights. From tracking deforestation trends in the Amazon rainforest to monitoring carbon emissions across urban landscapes, NatureAlpha offers a panoramic view of our planet's health.
We are seeking an outstanding and experienced Data Science Engineer with experience with NLP processing to join our dynamic team. You will help design and build cutting-edge AI extraction systems. The ideal candidate will be responsible for architecting, managing, and maintaining large-scale data scraping, processing, and cleaning pipelines in Python.
Requirements: Required:
- Advanced degree in computer science, mathematics and physics, computational biology, or related field - or comparable experience in data science
- Experience giving presentations and communicating technical work to (non-technical) external teams
- 1+ of experience working in professional environment/data science is strongly preferred
- Understanding of advanced machine learning techniques and experience with Large Language Models (APIs). Knowledge of locally hosted LLMs is a plus
- Excellent knowledge of software development good practices and collaboration tools, including git-based version control, Python package management, and code reviews
- Experience with optimising large-scale data processing systems for performance and scalability
- English working proficiency and communications skills (verbal and written)
- Good presentation skills for conveying technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders
- Good organisational skills and attention to detail with demonstrated ability to work proactively focusing on priorities across a range of tasks
- A team player, who can collaborate with others in a growing start-up
Preferred Qualifications:
- GCP as main cloud platform, however any cloud provider (AWS, Azure etc.) experience is valued
- Knowledge in containerisation using Docker is appreciated
- Understanding of Continuous Integration/Continuous Delivery (CI/CD) & DevOps processes, and experience applying them within an Agile framework is beneficial
- Experience with geospatial data formats, python libraries for geocomputation, and Postgres PostGIS
