La Corporación SIMBIOE, la Pontificia Universidad
Católica del Ecuador y el Fondo Ambiental Nacional se
complacen en invitar a participar del I Congreso
Internacional de Aves Rapaces y Conservación, mismo
que se llevará a cabo del 1 al 5 de abril de 2008 en
la Pontificia Universidad Católica en Quito.

Doce de los mejores especialistas del mundo se
reunirán en la capital del Ecuador, para hablar sobre
los resultados de sus estudios y proyectos,
estrategias y posibles programas de conservación, el
uso de tecnología de punta para la investigación de
rapaces y muchos otros temas.

Éste es además un Congreso formativo donde los
asistentes no solo podrán aprender sino también,
capacitarse en diversas temáticas sobre las aves
rapaces y la conservación.

Teniendo en cuenta que existen numerosos trabajos y
actividades con estas especies a lo largo del
Neotrópico y en otras partes del mundo, queremos
convocar tanto a personas nacionales como extranjeras
para que puedan aportar sus conocimientos y avivar el
interés por estos grupos en Ecuador. De igual manera,
a través de un encuentro de índole científica, se
busca mantener al país al tanto de los desarrollos en
el mundo de la investigación y conservación de
rapaces, abrir oportunidades de participación, crear
espacios de debate y establecer prioridades de
investigación y conservación. Por tanto, el Congreso
brindará talleres formativos cuyos temas principales
serán: Bioacústica en Aves Rapaces, Telemetría
Satelital, Sistemas de Anclaje de Transmisores y Otras
Marcas para Seguimiento, Manejo de Aves Rapaces en
Cautiverio y Estimación de la Edad e Identificación de
Campo de Aves Rapaces. Además, se llevará a cabo
exposiciones de fotografías, documentales, mesas
redondas y finalmente una salida de campo para la
observación de aves en estado silvestre.

Corporación SIMBIOE, Pontificia Universidad Católica
del Ecuador , and Eco Fund - Fundation Ecuador are
pleased to invite you to the First International
Congress of Raptors and Conservation, that will take
place from April 1 to 5, 2008 at the Catholic
University in Quito , Ecuador .

The Congress will bring together twelve of the world's
best specialists in raptors to talk about the results
of their studies and projects, strategies and
potential conservation programs, the use of last
technology in raptor research and other topics. This
event is also a formative Congress where those present
not just will learn but also they will be trained in
different subjects about raptors and conservation.

Keeping in mind that there are many projects, studies,
and activities related to raptors in the Neotropics
and over the world, we would like to invite
Ecuadorians and foreign people to contribute to the
knowledge and liven up the existing interest in
raptors in Ecuador . Moreover, through this scientific
Congress, we would like to keep Ecuador as a country
informed about raptor research and conservation
efforts, to open participation opportunities, to
create discussion spaces, and to establish
conservation and research priorities.

Finally, the Congress will offer formative workshops
with themes such as Bioacoustic, Satellite Telemetry,
Transmitters and Tagging Methods, Manipulation in
Captivity, Age Estimation and Field Identification of
Raptors. Furthermore, we will have along the Congress
a photo exhibition, documentary films, discussion
workshops, and a birdwatching trip.
