6 3-years PhD fellowship - Erasmus Mundus Joint Doctoral program

Several (>6) 3-years PhD fellowship are available for interdisciplinary
research in River Science within the Erasmus Mundus Joint Doctoral program
"SMART" (Science for Management of Rivers and their Tidal Systems).

Deadline for application: January 13, 2014 at 1.00 p.m. - Italian time (GMT+1)

SMART is a 3-years Joint Doctorate programme offered in the framework of the
Erasmus Mundus action by the University of Trento (Italy), Queen Mary,
University of London (UK) and the Freie Universität Berlin (Germany),
together with 17 associate partners in 8 different countries and 4
continents, encompassing research centres, private companies and
governmental agencies.

Research is multidisciplinary-based at a principal institution with
mandatory mobility to a second Consortium partner and one Associate partner.
The multi-disciplinary and international features of the participating
Institutions offers a wide range of possible research contexts for European
and non-European Candidates, who will have the opportunity to work with
leading researchers.

The SMART Programme focuses on the core areas of natural and engineering
sciences relevant to the sustainable management of river systems from their
headwaters to estuaries, including hydraulics, morphodynamics, hydrology,
biogeochemistry, geomorphology, biology and ecology.

Admission is on a selective basis; successful completion of the PhD
programme will be awarded a joint or double Doctoral Degree in River Science.

Arrival of selected PhD students at their Primary Institution is foreseen by
September/October 2014.
