GROUNDWATER PROTECTION AND RESTORATION
Modelling of mineral dissolution and weathering in soils and groundwater. Supervisor: Prof S.A. Banwart

Modelling biogeochemistry for the environmental assessment of radioactive waste disposal. Supervisor: Dr S.F. Thornton
The Influence of groundwater on surface water quality. Supervisor: Prof. D.N. Lerner
Assessing the impact on groundwater of heavy metals in contaminated soils. Supervisor: Dr J.C. Cripps
WATER ENGINEERING AND ENVIRONENTAL MANAGEMENT
Retrofitting sustainable urban drainage systems in urban stormwater management. Supervisor: Dr V. Stovin
Modelling water distribution systems. Supervisor: Dr J.B.Boxall
Assessment and prediction of mixing characteristics in natural watercourses. Supervisor: Dr I. Guymer
The role of turbulence in the entrainment and transport of fluvial graded sediment. Supervisor: Dr S. Tait
STRUCTURAL ENGINEERING
Mathematical modelling of the effective dynamic characteristics of composite materials. Supervisor: Dr T. Michelitsch
Modelling of concrete spalling and its influence on the behaviour of reinforced concrete structures in fire. Supervisor: Dr Z. Huang

You will join a specialist research group in one of the largest and most active Civil Engineering Departments in the UK. We are an RAE grade 5 Department, in recognition of our international research activities.
You should have, or expect to achieve, a 2(i) Honours degree or better in Civil Engineering, Mathematics or an appropriate Science.
