Assistant Professor/Assistant Director

Environmental Genetics and Genomics Facility (EnGGEN). The Department of Biological Sciences at Northern Arizona University (NAU; http://www.3.nau.edu/biology/) invites applications for a tenure-track position to oversee the operations of and provide instruction in NAU's newly established Environmental Genetics and Genomics Facility (EnGGEN).
The facility contains DNA preparation, sequencing, and analysis facilities for use by researchers on the Colorado Plateau. Supervision of operations will include coordinating use of the facilities, organizing maintenance, and overseeing supplies. Education and training will consist of the development and/or coordination of theory-oriented seminar courses, technique-oriented workshops, and informal consultation and training on
EnGGEN facilities. We anticipate that these activities will take up ~75% of the assistant director?s time (50% management and 25% teaching) with the remainder devoted to establishment of an externally funded research program. The appointment includes nine months of salary support with additional salary to be generated through extramural funding. Qualifications include a Ph.D. in a relevant field and experience working with molecular methods such as DNA extraction, PCR, DNA sequencing using a capillary system, AFLP's and analysis of DNA data.
