University of Strathclyde: PhD Studentship in Protein Stability and Formulation

Applications are invited for a three-year AstraZeneca-Strathclyde University funded Ph.D. studentship. The successful candidate will join an active research group working on protein formulation and delivery issues at Strathclyde University and may also work at AstraZeneca.
The project will involve the development of strategies for the stabilisation of an immunoglobulin-type protein during freezing and lyophilisation, and chemical and biological testing of the formulated product. The student will gain practical experience in a wide range of analytical and instrumental techniques, and gain insight into the industrial application of the research.

The position is available from 1 October 2004. Candidates should have, or be about to receive, a good honours or masters degree in biochemistry, pharmacy, or a related science.
