The Smithsonian Institution's Monitoring and Assessment of Biodiversity Program (MAB) is offering two professional training courses for international scientists, resource managers and educators. Both courses will be held in Front Royal, Virginia at the National Zoo's Conservation and Research Center. The Biodiversity Assessment and Monitoring Course provides participants with monitoring techniques for vegetation, herps, birds, mammals, aquatic environments, and arthropods. It is a five-week intensive course and will be held May 8 - June 10, 2005. The Environmental Leadership Course, September 11-23, 2005, teaches communication skills, problem solving techniques, and many other tools beneficial in achieving personal and environmental goals.
