A postdoctoral position is available to work on environmental modeling and Geographic Information Systems (GIS) with a focus on spatial data uncertainty and species modeling. The candidate will be involved in a multidisciplinary research project to improve the quality and quantity of biodiversity data that can be mapped in support of scientific research, planning, conservation, and management. The candidate will primarily conduct his/her research at the University of California at Merced, the 10th campus of the University of California and the first new research University of the 21st century. The candidate will also collaborate with researchers at UC Berkeley.
Minimum qualifications: A Ph.D. in computer science, statistics, ecology, environmental science, geography, or related field is required. The applicant must have a solid foundation in GIS, statistical methods, and computer programming.
