The Institute of Human Genetics at the Uniklinik Köln is seeking applications for a full-time and for two years

Postdoctoral Fellow (f/m)

to be employed under a limited-time contract.

The position is offered by Dr. Sebahattin Cirak from the Institute of Human Genetics Cologne/Germany. The principal investigator Dr. Sebahattin Cirak is leading an Emmy Noether Excellence Group funded by the Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG). The group is highly funded by additional other foundation grants and industrial collaboration. Laboratories are located at the Center for Molecular Medicine (http://www.zmmk.uni-koeln.de)

Your responsibilities will include:
• Discovery of novel muscular dystrophy-associated genes and molecular mechanisms by latest state of art OMICs techniques, in particular RNA sequencing
• Characterization of mouse models to investigate the underlying pathophysiological mechanisms leading to muscular dystrophy
• Development of novel antisense oligonucleotides for exon skipping therapy of Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy in-vitro and mdx mice models
• Development of protein quantification techniques including mass spectrometry
• Working in collaboration with an international team under supervision and leadership of the PI
• Publishing impactful original research papers

Minimum qualifications:
• Ph.D in biology and related field and a strong interest in drug development in genetically inherited diseases
• A solid background in molecular biology is desirable
• Ability to work on multiple project in collaboration with others
• 3 years hands-on experience with mouse models are obligatory
• Candidates with programming skills will be preferred
• Candidates should be creative and capable of developing a competitive research project while working in autonomy under the supervision of a team leader

Your salary will be based on qualification and experience including benefits according to TV-L E13. The jobs is currently for 2 years but will be extended if the candidate is successful.
