PhD(s) in molecular biology (Germany)

PhD positions are available in the group of Prof. Alexander Buchberger at the Department of Biochemistry, Biocenter, University of Wuerzburg.

Research in our lab is focused on targeted protein degradation by the ubiquitin proteasome system. We study the ubiquitin-selective ATPase Cdc48/p97 and its control by regulatory cofactors in the model organism budding yeast and in mammalian cell culture. Following our previous identification of various cofactor families, projects in the lab are now aimed at identifying specific cellular functions of Cdc48/p97 and its cofactors. Experiments will cover a broad range of state-of-the-art methods in molecular cell biology, protein biochemistry and genetics.

Applicants must hold a degree in Biology or Biochemistry. The ideal candidate has a solid background in biochemistry and cell biology, high motivation, good communication skills and the ability to work in a team. To apply, please submit one single pdf-file containing your CV, transcripts of records, a brief summary of research experience and names of referees via email to:
