Científico para conservación de aves marinas (UK)

Conservation Scientist - Marine

Reference number: A0900517

Location: Inverness, Edinburgh or UK Headquarters (The Lodge, Sandy) - To be Confirmed

Would you like to be involved in translating RSPB's cutting edge seabird tracking research into real conservation impact for the marine environment? Our recent scientific work has seen the production of the first ever UK-wide marine distribution maps for four species of seabird which are based on tracking data. We are now recruiting a Conservation Scientist to lead on further spatial analysis using these outputs to identify key marine areas for seabirds at both a UK and four UK country scale, providing robust evidence to underpin sound and sustainable ecosystem based marine planning. This is an exciting opportunity for the successful candidate to work closely with a small team of science and policy colleagues throughout the UK to create a new toolkit for advocacy and awareness raising around the results of our seabird tracking work, forming a core element of RSPB's UK marine conservation work.

The ideal candidate will have extensive experience of analysing spatial distribution data, be highly competent in spatial statistics, fully conversant with R and ArcGIS, a good communicator, and have working knowledge of seabird ecology and marine conservation.
