The Institute for Clinical Chemistry and Laboratory Medicine (IKL) located at the Medical Faculty of the Technische Universität (TU) Dresden is inviting applications from highly qualified candidates for PhD student positions. The TU Dresden belongs to the 11 German universities that were awarded “excellent†status in 2012. The biomedical campus of the TU Dresden provides an excellent and interactive research environment.
The IKL (head: Prof. Dr. T. Chavakis) has a strong research focus on innate immunity, inflammation, normal and malignant hematopoiesis and metabolism (PMID: 28846069; PMID: 28414311; PMID: 26424570; PMID: 24845056; PMID: 22447028). Pathologic alterations of cellular processes are studied in detail by using a variety of state-of-the-art in vitro and in vivo disease models. The PhD Student(s) will be in the lab of Prof. Chavakis. The overall aim of his/her research is to elucidate the crosstalk between inflammatory/immune and metabolic pathways at the cellular level in the emerging field of immunometabolism. The research program aims to understand the metabolic regulation of hematopoietic progenitor and innate immune cell function in the context of inflammatory disease as well as in the context of normal and malignant hematopoiesis. The PhD student(s) will work on in vitro culture systems and experimental murine animal models, focusing on the understanding of the metabolic net!

We are looking for highly motivated candidates that have graduated in a life sciences subject and have a strong background in cell and molecular biology. Experience in cell culture, molecular biology techniques, protein biochemistry, handling experimental animals and flow cytometry will receive high consideration. We expect enthusiasm for life sciences, solid education, creativity and team-spirit.
The positions are available immediately. Female candidates are particularly encouraged to apply. In case of equal qualifications, candidates with disabilities will take precedence.
