Senior Manager of Scientific Outreach, Netherlands

We seek an energetic and well-networked professional in Life Sciences to build relationships and communities among researchers and research leaders around the world.

You will be accountable for the development and execution of strategic marketing, networking, and scientific advisory activities among researchers and key opinion leaders in Life Sciences, with a focus on chemistry. You will be responsible for awareness generation programs; lobbying and networking among key influencers and decisions makers along with providing input into the strategic development of Reaxys.

This role is based in Amsterdam and reports to the Director, Life Science Solutions Marketing.


Your responsibilities


Development and execution of strategic marketing programs to build brand awareness, as well as increase visibility and loyalty among customers and end-users

  • Accountable for developing and executing a range of communication and engagement programs with target audiences, including the Reaxys PhD Prize. 
  • Development and management of scientific sponsorship, prizes, symposia
  • Organize and manage network of scholarly reviewers for prize submissions
  • Manage prize advisory board 
  • Presentations at scientific and information focused meetings
  • Lead outreach and activities with chemistry researcher communities 
  • Maintain contact and plan outreach activities with prize and symposium participants. Create a network of advocates in the chemistry community.
  • Plan regular communications with past prize and symposia participants
  • Schedule meetings and events with past prize and symposia participants
  • Develop and maintain networks of key opinion leaders in chemistry 
  • Gather market intelligence and provide strategic input towards Life Science Solutions 
  • Provide input on the market landscape of life science R&D IT solutions based on deep knowledge of chemistry research, as well as competitive research.
  • Act as an advisor for solutions development
  • Utilize KOL networks to test value propositions and messaging
  • Gather and report market intelligence that can impact Elsevier solutions 



What you should bring
  • PhD in the physical or life sciences, chemistry highly preferred
  • At least 10 years’ experience in life science industry, or scientific engagement
  • Proven experience of maintaining releationships with research leaders in academia and industry
  • Proven experience of securing the evidence to be able to take, and of taking, evidence-based decisions
  • Experience with scientific database systems (e.g. Reaxys, SciFinder) a plus
  • Highly organized with project management skillsets.
