Scientific Manager

Job description:
The scientific manager will operate at the interface between scientists, physicians, the technical staff and the institute´s director. The tasks include scientific writing, grant preparation, project management organization of meetings and communication with collaboration partners, support in preparation of scientific talks, managing laboratory equipment, protocols and support of on- and off-boarding processes of institute´s employees. He/she will support the institute´s director in the communication with collaborating laboratories, funding bodies and authorities.

We aim to expand the understanding of the pathogenesis of asthma, allergies and tolerance and to translate this information into new approaches for prevention and/or treatment of allergies in humans. Moreover, we aim to develop a better understanding and new diagnostic and therapeutic approaches for lung infections as well as rare lung diseases in children. We are involved in regional, national and international research collaborations and third-party funded projects and research consortia like the German Center for Lung Diseases (DZL), the Exzellence Cluster RESIST (“Resolving Infection Susceptibility”). The laboratory is located in the modern Pediatric Research Center directly next to the Deprtament of Pediatrics promoting translational research and hosts state of the art equipment for cellular, immunological research including biosafety level 1 to level 3 facilities. The institute´s members are affiliated with local graduate school programs and contribute to the curricula of
local master and PhD programs.

Your qualification:
Candidates should have successfully completed a university degree in biology, medicine, or a related subject and should have ideally acquired a PhD in immunology, allergology or pneumology or a related field. They should have very good oral and written language skills in German and English. A scientific background in the area of allergology, immunology or pneumology is of advantage. He/She should have strong organizing and communication skills, and a solid background in typical immunological, molecular and cell biological methods. We look for a highly organized, integrative, and service oriented personality who wishes to coordinate and facilitate the research activities in an international and interdisciplinary team of scientists.


Starting date: as soon as possible
The contract will be for three years with the possibility for extension
Salary: TVöD E13
