Participa en este programa de mentores de conservación dentro de las ciencias sociales

Applications now open for SSWG's Conservation Social Science Mentoring Program!

SSWG is launching a Conservation Social Science Mentorship Program and we are now taking mentor and mentee applications!

Why are we doing this?
The SSWG mentoring program is for everyone involved in conservation social sciences whether engaged in research or practice, academia, government, NGO, or private sector. We aim to:

Help provide students guidance on how to gain a better grounding in the research and practice of social science within conservation
Help build networks within the conservation social science community
Raise the profile and robustness of social science within conservation
Help BIPOC and LGBTQ+ community members, and women navigate barriers in conservation and academia

What do I get out of it?
For mentees: It’s a chance for you to connect and learn from someone with experience in the conservation social sciences who can help you progress in your career.

For mentors: This is a chance for you to provide advice and feedback to a student who can really use your help and contribute to the SSWG community. It’s also a chance to learn new things and improve your own leadership and management skills.

What’s the time commitment?
It’s mostly up to each pair to decide how much you want to connect, but we envision most mentorships involve monthly communication via whatever communication channel suits you.

Who can sign-up?
Anyone in conservation social science, whether student, professional or retired!
Since this is a pilot mentoring program we are only accepting 30 pairings into the first group/cohort of mentors and mentees, but we strongly encourage with an interest in the program to sign-up using the link below.

The online application period will close October 15th 2020.
