The Vale Institute of Technology (ITV) was created in 2009 and is currently among the leading research institutions in sustainable development in Northern Brazil. It also hosts a Master's course recognized by the Brazilian Higher Education Agency (CAPES).



The Institute has three high-performance computational clusters, as well as next-generation genetic sequencing platforms. It also has laboratories for molecular biology, microbiology, con-focal microscopy, optics and electronics, plant physiology, and soil analysis.

Mandatory prerequisites:


Ph.D. in Biology, Environmental Sciences, or similar fields.


Experience in ecology, botany, forestry, or related areas.


Experience coordinating Research and Development projects and the ability to communicate with interdisciplinary teams (for example, data science, information technology, programming, genomics, remote sensing, GIS, big data, machine learning).


Publications in international scientific journals with high-medium impact. International research experience.


English proficiency.

Desirable prerequisites:


Experience with applied research.


Experience in communicating results to different audiences and stakeholders.

Publications in high impact peer-reviewed scientific journals.

Activities and responsibilities (all positions):

Responsible for leading a team of researchers specialized in technical disciplines related to Research, Development, and Teaching.

Coordinate and direct activities aimed at promoting the training of specialized human resources, scientific research, development, and technological innovation, guaranteeing the permanence of the consolidation of the Institute as an entity with strong credibility and relationship in the national and international scientific environment, contributing to expand Vale's access to new technologies that can leverage current businesses or enable future businesses.

Support in the management and operation of the Institute under internal policies, guidelines, and standards and the consolidation of the Institute as an institution of excellence, generating content and disseminating innovative technological, scientific knowledge for socio-economic development and the sustainable mining chain.
