The Guindre-Parker lab at Kennesaw State University (Georgia) is looking for a Field Research Coordinator. Our lab studies European starlings across an urbanization gradient in metro-Atlanta, exploring how urbanization shapes the behavior, health, and physiology of starlings. The Field Research Coordinator position is limited term and available for 6 months. The preferred start date is February 1st 2023. The position is full time (40hrs/week) and will pay between $20-$30/hr depending on experience; the position includes benefits.

The Research Coordinator will assist with field research in the Guindre-Parker lab. Research tasks will include conducting local fieldwork on free-living birds: trapping birds, banding birds, collecting morphological measurements, performing behavioral assays, and collecting biological samples (e.g., blood, feather, or fecal samples). Additional duties may include data entry or performing lab physiological assays. The Research Coordinator will oversee additional field assistants to help with these tasks.

This position is contingent on research funding availability.

MINIMUM EDUCATION REQUIRED:

Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution of higher education in a field related to position.

MINIMUM EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:

· Prior experience in avian research

· Supervisory experience

· Willingness to work at local field sites in Georgia and under a variety of weather conditions

· A valid US driver’s license is required. Must meet requirements to be authorized to drive university vehicles

ADDITIONAL QUALIFICATIONS: (Preferred qualifications)

· Field experience

· Bird handling experience

· Bird banding experience

· Bird trapping experience

· Biological sample collection experience (examples include blood, fecal or feather sampling)
