Associate Professor in Evolutionary Genomics of Vertebrates (permanent position with PhD start-up opportunity at NTNU University Museum, Norway)

Responsibilities:

Maintains an active, international research profile.
-
Develops and submits competitive project applications to the European Research Council, the Research Council of Norway, and similar sources of national and international funding.
-
Will have the scientific governance for our vertebrate natural history collections.
-
Contributes to teaching at the NTNU Department of Biology, the Research School in Biosystematics (ForBio), or the Nordic Academy of Biodiversity and Systematic Studies (NABiS).

Participates in public outreach activities.
Requirements:
-
Ph.D. within the field of evolutionary genomics or a closely related academic discipline.
-
Peer-reviewed publications in vertebrate evolutionary genomics.
-
Relevance of research focus in relation to the NTNU University Museum research strategy.
-
Excellent skills in written and spoken English.

Experience and success with any type of project acquisition and management.
-
Document relevant museum-related dissemination skills, or complete an approved course within two years of commencement.

New employees who do not speak a Scandinavian language by appointment are required, within three years, to demonstrate skills in Norwegian or another Scandinavian language equivalent to level three.
Preferred qualifications:

Experience with the curation of natural history collections.
-
Experience with collaborative research using interdisciplinary approaches.

Experience with teaching and supervision.
-
Experience in applying genomic approaches to scientific collections and/or ancient biological remains.
-
Experience in developing new mathematical and/or computational methods.
-
Experience in the integration of vertebrate host and microbiome datasets.
-
Experience with pangenomics and metagenomics.
Location: NTNU University Museum, Trondheim, Norway.
