Research Associate in Proteomic Fingerprinting and Paleoproteomics

Contract Type: Part-time (65%), fixed-term contract for 3 years in accordance with § 2 WissZeitVG and § 72 HessHG with opportunity for own academic qualification
Main Description: The position is part of the externally funded project "Establishment of a novel approach to trace Lake Tanganyika's gastropod fauna evolution" in the frame of the Priority Program "International Continental Deep Drilling (ICDP)".
Tasks include:
- Data generation and analysis based on existing sample material as part of a DFG-funded research project on the biodiversity and evolution of molluscs in Lake Tanganyika
- Utilization of a new integrated analytical approach using proteomic fingerprinting, shell paleoproteomics, DNA barcoding and biodiversity modeling
Requirements:
- Completed Master's or equivalent university degree in Biology
- Knowledge of Matrix-Assisted Laser Desorption/Ionization Time-Of-Flight Mass Spectrometry (MALDI-TOF MS)
- Good statistical knowledge, experience in using R or Python
- Interest in evolutionary biology advantageous
